  • Pushcart Players brings a little bit of Broadway to your school or theatre, rich in content, wrapped in colorful entertainment.
  •  All programs are accompanied by a terrific study guide for teachers and fulfill many core curriculum standards in the arts and other subjects. 
  •  Professional Development Workshops, Arts in Education Workshops and Residencies can be arranged to enhance any curriculum 
  • The cast is available for a question/answer session or a “Meet and Greet” with the audience following all performances. 
  • Pushcart programs are ADA accessible. Sign interpretation, audio-description and large print materials are available upon request.

      A perfect tie-in to many Social Studies issues, Columbus Day celebrations, and themes of exploration, global history, creative thinking and inventiveness.

“Peter and the Wolf”

K- 5

      A splendid introduction to theatre, classical music and value clarification themes.  Filled with laughter and love, friendship and feeling, this riveting theatre piece offers young and family audiences a precious moment of theatre and enrichment.  This show will once again be on national tour, so catch it while it’s here in the tri-state area.

“A Season of Miracles”  

 K – 8

     A winter celebration wrapped in a multi-cultural musical show that reveals the true spirit of the holidays from diverse perspectives.  Four favorite stories -- “Gift of The Magi,” “The Kwanzaa Kite,” “A Menorah from Heaven,” and “The Nutcracker” – unfold with charm, grace and beauty,  -- each reminding us that the gifts of love, kindness and peace are at the heart of the holiday season.

“Dear America”

K-8

      A musical play that explores the immigrant experience, ethnic diversity, human rights and democratic values – Sometimes funny, sometimes sad, Dear America offers a stunning overview of America in a series of short stories.          

      In presenting the heartbeat of our nation through its people, their music and customs, Dear America celebrates the richness of cultural diversity and the triumph of the human spirit.  This show offers a grand celebration of American History Month (February), while touching upon Black History (February), Women’s History (March) and much, much more.

“The Last, The Very Last…Butterfly”  

Grades 4 - 12

     Pushcart’s signature Holocaust Education piece that introduces this sad chapter of history with sensitivity and care.  An ideal introduction to - or culmination of - Holocaust study, prejudice reduction and bully behavior discussion/units.  Timing coincides with Holocaust Remembrance traditionally in April and May.

(Tree Tales)

     Catch the color and the beat of this fiesta of stories drawn from Spanish and Latin-American folklore. A bi-lingual musical just right for Spanish, English or Bi-lingual audiences of any age! Celebrate Cinco de Mayo.  Special arrangements can be made upon request for Spanish Heritage Month (Sept), and National Hispanic Heritage Month (Oct).

Clap Your Hands!

“Red Riding Hood & Other Stories”  

Pre K - 5

Take a fabulous journey into once upon a time with this collection of timeless tales.  “Princess and the Pea,” Emperor’s New Clothes,” “Red Riding Hood,” and “All’s Well That Ends Well” will help you celebrate Youth Arts Month (March), I Love To Read Month (April). It will leave young audiences laughing, singing and with much food for thought throughout the year.

And Stamp Your Feet!

“Stone Soup & Other Stories”

Pre K - 4

     Stir up familiar fun – anytime -- with stories and songs from around the world! This heartwarming brew is the perfect introduction to the joy of theatre and to the concept that says, “reading is fun – go for it!”  I Love To Read Month (April).

Arts in Education Programs                                                                           To Help Kids Grow

The Arts improve vocabulary and reading comprehension, enhance self-esteem, creative thinking and communication skills. Most of all, the Arts provide something beautiful, fanciful and wonderful to touch the souls of children! 

          Adhering to “National Standards For Arts Education” and “Goals 2000,” Pushcart’s expanding arts-in-education programs offer students the opportunity to develop critical thinking skills, problem solving, self-discipline and much, much more --

 

JUNIOR BROADWAY (On-School Time or After)

Kids learn all about theatre by doing it! Condensed versions of familiar Broadway favorites are cast, rehearsed, designed, and presented with the help of parents, teachers and Pushcart staff.  Dazzling performances at the end of 12 to 16 weeks.  A marvelous school-wide and community activity! 

 

CREATIVE DRAMA WORKSHOPS

Theatre games, storytelling and improvisation help students develop self-awareness and confidence in dramatic play and self expression.

 

TEACHER TRAINING WORKSHOPS

Explore many approaches and methods for using drama and creative drama in the classroom for their own sake or to amplify and enhance any curriculum. 

 

INFORMANCES

A post show demo-discussion on the many components of a theatre production.
