A note about our ARTS-IN-EDUCATION PROGRAMS -

Adhering to “National Standards For Arts Education” and “Goals 2000,” Pushcart’s expanding arts-in-education programs offer students the opportunity to develop critical thinking skills, problem solving and self-discipline. These objectives, conducted by our Director of Arts Education and guided by our Education Advisory Board, provide sequential learning in the arts, are tied into the Higher Order Thinking Skills (HOTS) and the SCANS Report currently in use for curriculum development.

pARTnerships IN THE ARTS

An innovative mentoring program in which older students learn all about theatre through workshops, and active participation in theatre performances. They are then responsible for preparing and accompanying younger students to a performance. This unique and effective cross-age tutoring program is designed to amplify the theatre-going experience and provide alternate pathways to learning through the arts while fulfilling many core curriculum objectives of Goals 2000. PARTnerships is available year ‘round and can be tailored to suit the needs of the school or organization. It requires planning/scheduling several months in advance. (12-16 sessions)

ACT ONE DRAMA RESIDENCY

Additional Residencies

These residencies are tailored to the needs and preferences of each school, and are designed to help each child develop a strong foundation in basic theatre skills and literacy in the arts.  The overall goals of each of a series of sessions are to increase the understanding of an art form, to develop self-awareness and confidence in dramatic play and to act and interact in dramatic activities with full involvement, focus and concentration.

Creative Drama Workshops

Creative Drama Workshops

Theatre games, storytelling and improvisation help students develop self-awareness and confidence in dramatic play.  While nurturing creativity and self-expression,  “process“ rather than “product” oriented exercises foster the ability to act and interact in dramatic activities with full involvement.

TEACHER TRAINING WORKSHOPS

A participatory program that provides a vital teaching tool to sustain benefits of artists’ residencies, educational workshops and other programs, reinforcing the sequential approach to learning in and about the arts in the K-12 curriculum. These workshops explore many approaches and methods for using drama and creative drama in the classroom for their own sake and to amplify and enhance any curriculum.  Teachers and others gain skills, insights and inspiration to implement drama in the curriculum.
