A
Musical Comedy!
|
| A
joyful introduction to the world of Shakespeare |
|
Permanent
Repertory
For Grades 3-9
|
| Presented as a play within a play, the story takes place
in
the Elizabethan era and is narrated by Will Shakespeare himself, and
actor
and resident writer for a traveling troupe of players, "The King's
Men."
The players journey from town to town and on this particular day,
when
asked what plays were available, Will proposes "Not Quite Hamlet" a
sunnier,
more uplifting version of the sad, dark tragedy, "Hamlet." |
| The players agree to perform this adaptation with guidance
and narration from Will. The play retains all the elements of
Shakespeare's "Hamlet" but is simplified for clarity and moved along by
charming songs, dances and staging. |
|
Brought
to you by Pushcart Players, the songs are written by Broadway's Tony
and
Grammy Award winning Judd Woldin (Raisin, The Prince and the Pauper,
Little
Ham) and Marc Elliot (One Man Band and composer, lyricist
and
creative force of Romper Room) with musical arrangements by
Broadway's
Larry Hochman (Class Act, Jane Eyre, and many others).
A
fabulous cast, stunning sets, costumes and choregraphy, make this
Shakespearean
tale a magical "must" for all young and family audiences.
